During my many years as an officer of this association, and especially this year as international president, I have witnessed the scope of our activities in lands spanning the earth. I have been privileged to meet with Lions representing a wide range of cultures and speaking scores of languages, and during this time came to understand fully the significance of the global network of fellowship and service Lions have established. It is one we must nourish and fortify at every opportunity if we are to strengthen the bonds that make it possible for us to still further promote the message contained in the first Object of Lions Clubs International: “To create and foster a spirit of understanding among the peoples of the world.”
