A passionate group of Oakland Township residents met with the Oakland Town Board June 21 to discuss possible changes in teh Lake Ripley Ordinances. The format of the meeting was solely informational and included a public hearing where residents could voice their opinions. Both written and oral testimony was accepted into the record.

The meeting stemmed froma 2003 study commissioned by teh Lake Ripley Management District. It was recommended at the time actions be taken by the Town of Oakland to help “increase user safety, reduce recreational conflict, limit the potential for overcrowding, and preserve lake health.” The commission stated that “Lake Repley is an important resource used by the public for recreation and enjoyment of natural beauty.” Further, the Lake Ripley Management District concluded in its report “that boat traffic routinely exceeded the lake’s estimated carrying capacity based on minimal safety and environmental protection standards.”

In order to comply with the recommendations from teh Lake Ripley Management District report, the Town of Oakland Board adopted raising the launch fees as of April 19 to be consistent with Wisconsin State Statutes. Those fees are as follows:

Oakland property owner, $10 annual or $5 daily;
Wisconsin resident $20 annual or $5 daily;
Wisconsin resident 65 or older $10 annual or $5 daily;
Out-of-State resident $30 annual or $5 daily;
Replacement Sticker $10
