Supporting Our Community

Our Lions Club holds community events as a core part of our mission to empower volunteers and serve communities. Our motto is "We Serve," and our activities are guided by the belief that "community is what we make it." Our events and projects are focused on addressing local needs, promoting civic and social welfare, raising funds for humanitarian causes and our community, and fostering fellowship. Held this year on February 6 & 7, the Cambridge Area Lions Club Fisheree is an annual winter community event bringing people together - young and old - for winter fun on the frozen surface of Lake Ripley. Beyond the draw of the ice fishing competition, which offers cash prizes for various fish categories, the Fisheree serves as a vital fundraiser for the our club. It's a day of camaraderie and good cheer, complete with food, drinks, raffles, and our "Barstool Fishing" challenge for those who want to stay inside, all working to support the Lions Club's mission of serving local and global humanitarian needs. This event embodies the spirit of community and good-natured competition, making it a highlight of the season in Cambridge.

Our annual Spring Bowling is one of our most fun fundraisers! At Lake Ripley Lanes we host a Scotch Doubles Nine Pin Tap tournament. In addition to the tournament, the evening features a silent auction, raffles, and a unique Red Head Pin gambling game for raffle tickets. We also have door prizes and other opportunities to win throughout the night. Family, friends, and neighbors and come out for an evening of entertainment and community support.

Our Lions Club hosts the Village of Cambridge's annual Memorial Day Parade and it is a cherished community event honoring those who have served. Our club members work together to make sure everything needed for a successful parade happens . The procession travels down Main Street, drawing literal thousands of spectators and a strong sense of community spirit. Following the parade, a solemn memorial service is held at Veterans Memorial Park to pay respects to fallen veterans. The day's festivities continue with a community picnic and celebration in the park, featuring live music, food, and the annual Duck Race, making it a day of both respectful remembrance and community togetherness.

The tree lighting marks the start of the holiday season in Cambridge and is a way for the community to come together, enjoy the spirit of the season, and celebrate local organizations that make Cambridge a vibrant place to live. Decorating and lighting the tree while providing hot chocolate to the crowd is just one of many ways we contribute to the well-being and social fabric of the Cambridge community.

The Cambridge, Wisconsin, Lake Ripley Ride is a popular annual bicycle ride that takes place in the summer. It's not a race, but a scenic tour for cyclists of all abilities. The event is a fundraiser for two organizations: the Cambridge Community Activities Program (CAP) and Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF), which supports type 1 diabetes research.

We support the event's celebration at Ripley Park after the ride, which features live music and the opportunity to cool off at the beach, by providing the participants post-race food.

The Cambridge Arts Council's free Concerts in the Park series is perfect small-town Friday evening experience for the community and we are proud of our partnership with them. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. The Arts Council curates a diverse lineup of musical talent and a few times each summer we keep attendees well-fed by offering up our famous grilled pizzas and beverages for the crowds.
